Lufthansa increases its operating result to EUR 612m for the first nine months of 2010. Operating profit for the full year is expected to exceed the EUR 800m mark.
The Lufthansa Group generated revenue of EUR 20.2bn (+24.9 per cent) in the first nine months of 2010 and improved its operating result by EUR 386m to EUR 612m compared with the same period last year. Net profit for the period was EUR 524m (previous year: EUR 31m).
The nine-month earnings reflect both the measures undertaken in the Group to reduce costs and the gratifying pace of demand in the third quarter, particularly in the freight and intercontinental passenger businesses. In view of the course of business to date and current stable demand, the Executive Board has revised its expectations for the earnings development upwards and now anticipates that the operating result for the full year will exceed the EUR 800m mark.
