AIRCAIRO has officially launched new direct scheduled services to Athens, adding another European destination to its expanding international network as part of its regional and international growth strategy. The new routes underline the airline’s ongoing commitment to strengthening air connectivity between Egypt and international markets, supporting tourism, business travel and economic cooperation.
Scheduled operations on the Cairo–Athens route began on 24 July, followed on 26 July by the launch of the Alexandria–Athens service. The two routes are expected to meet growing travel demand between Egypt and Greece, boost tourism and business traffic, and open new opportunities for bilateral economic and tourism cooperation.
AIRCAIRO’s inaugural flight to Athens International Airport was greeted with an official welcome ceremony organised by the airport authorities. The event brought together senior officials from the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and Athens International Airport, together with representatives of the Greek aviation and tourism sectors, reflecting the strong and steadily growing partnership between Egypt and Greece.

The AIRCAIRO delegation was led by Ahmed Aziz, Chief Commercial Officer, representing Hussein Sherif, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AIRCAIRO. During the ceremony, Aziz conveyed the airline management’s sincere appreciation to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and Athens International Airport for the warm reception and outstanding hospitality extended to its inaugural flight.
On behalf of Sherif, Aziz emphasised that the launch of the new Athens service demonstrates AIRCAIRO’s commitment to strengthening the long-standing strategic relationship between Egypt and Greece, while further enhancing bilateral air connectivity in support of tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchange.

Sherif further confirmed that AIRCAIRO continues to pursue its ambitious network expansion strategy, announcing plans to launch direct scheduled services to Athens from Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh in the coming months. These additional routes are expected to further stimulate inbound tourism to Egypt, giving European travellers convenient access to the country’s leading Red Sea destinations.
