Lufthansa is official supporter of 2010 Athens Classic Marathon

In economic and athletic competition alike, what counts most are strength and endurance, technique and speed. Every time Lufthansa gets off the blocks, its goal is to improve its performance yet again. Therefore, it is not surprising that the airline has been a partner of sports for many years.
This year, Lufthansa is Official Supporter of one of the most important Sports Events worldwide: the Marathon Race, which stands out as it was born by a true historic and heroic event. The Marathon Race has always had a prominent place in the hearts and minds of sports enthusiasts, as it represents the highest effort where the human body, soul and mind are tested to their limits as the runner presses himself/herself to reach the finish line.
The majority of the international running community and market is visiting Athens for the historic 2,500 years anniversary from the Marathon Battle. 2010 Athens Classic Marathon is taking place on 31st October and Lufthansa will be there, by the side of the athletes and their high goal. Greece is going to welcome 12,500 Marathon runners and a total of 21,000 runners participating in all road races of the event – the largest number of participants ever. Apart from the sporting experience, they will have the chance to enjoy the traditional Greek hospitality, discover the fascinating landscape of our country and explore a city which is constantly improving its standards.
Lufthansa and sports – this commitment goes far beyond support for high-performance athletes. The “Airline of Sports” is equally committed to the athletes among its employees who are members of the numerous Lufthansa sports associations. And of course it is also there for the many fans who support their teams around the world.  To sum up, Lufthansa’s commitment to sports is both evidence of the willingness to perform in competition and to corporate social responsibility.
