Celebrity Cruises’ new ship, the Celebrity Flora, is almost ready to set sail to the Galapagos Islands, and it’s going to give guests a cruise experience they’ve never had before.
The new vessel is about two weeks away from completion, and it’s practically made for sailing to the Galapagos Islands.
Even though it only carries 100 passengers, the Celebrity Flora has so much more space for guests to spread out — about twice the volume of the Celebrity Xperience, which has also sailed to the Galapagos Islands. The Celebrity Flora has all the amenities of ships that came before it, and then some.
Among the many special amenities and public spaces on board include an al fresco restaurant, a marina that makes it extra easy for guests to transfer from ship to land, and four cabanas for passengers who want to book a luxurious glamping experience.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, told Travel Pulse back in November, “Our new Galapagos Glamping experience gives guests an incredible opportunity to experience the destination the ship was built for, on a whole new level, under the millions of stars above.”
Such a unique destination deserves a unique cruise experience, after all.
Kevin Douglas, Celebrity’s vice president of newbuilds, told Travel Weekly that the ship also has another important feature that makes it ideal for the Galapagos: the lighting.
“Everywhere you look, we try to get the daylight in,” said Douglas. He added that the ship is constructed with amber toned lights to avoid light distraction and every part of the ship is optimized to keep light pollution to a minimum, making the ship absolutely perfect for stargazing.
The Celebrity Flora is set to complete construction in May, and will make its maiden voyage to the Galapagos beginning June 30. Guests will be able to book both 10-day and 11-day excursions or opt for 16-day trips.
