The 7.7 magnitude earthquake of Tuesday, in southwestern Pakistan has caused a new island to emerge off the coast of Gwadar, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
Television channels showed images of a stretch of rocky terrain rising above the sea level, with a crowd of bewildered people gathering on the shore to witness the rare phenomenon.
Deputy inspector general Moazzam Jah said the new small, mountain-like island’s altitude is 20 to 40 feet, it is around 100 feet wide and is about about 600 meters (yards) off Pakistan’s Gwadar coastline in the Arabian Sea.
