Louis Cruises is delighted to inform that ‘Lynceus’, a project developed by the Maritime Institute of Eastern Mediterranean in co-operation with European SMEs (small and medium entities) and RTDs (research and technology developers), was recently recognized by Lloyd’s List as the most innovative project for 2014 and has won the Global Lloyds List award for Innovation.
The objective of the ‘Lynceus’ project is to develop a low cost and robust technology for localizing each individual passenger or crewmember onboard or in the water during emergencies, thus maximizing the probability of timely rescue and minimizing loss of life. The project will be completed in March 2015 with a demonstration to the Project officer of the EU, whose funds made this innovative breakthrough a reality.
Louis Cruises participates in the project by offering its ships for tests but has also had major input in the practical implementation of this novel technology and contributed in its development.
Kyriakos Anastassiadis, CEO of Louis Cruises applauded the excellent work conducted by all those participating in the project and noted: “The safety of human life is the foremost priority of the cruising industry and in this context, it is indeed great for us to be part of this team and to have had a constructive role in significantly enhancing our industry’s safety and security capability. After March 2015, the project will enter its second phase as ‘Lynceus 2’, an improved version of ‘Lynceus’. Louis Cruises will continue to participate and support this innovative project”
