United is launching new flights between Athens and Chicago O’Hare on 24 May 2024
Airline is increasing flights from Greece by nearly 25 per cent for 2024
United Airlines has extended its daily seasonal services from Athens to New York/Newark and Washington D.C. for 2024, providing more travel options for travellers departing Greece. The airline is starting its Athens to New York-Newark service a week earlier on 31 March and flights from Athens to Washington D.C. start three weeks earlier on 15 April 2024. With these seasonal service extensions and the introduction of new daily seasonal service between Athens and Chicago O’Hare on 24 May 2024, United is increasing flights from Greece by nearly 25 per cent for 2024.
“With the extension of our seasonal services from Athens to New York/Newark and Washington D.C., we are able to offer our customers in Greece the opportunity to book their next U.S. getaway even earlier this year,” said Thorsten Lettnin, United’s Director Sales Continental Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and Israel. “For summer 2024, United will operate its largest-ever transatlantic summer schedule and we look forward to launching our new direct service from Athens to Chicago O’Hare, enabling even greater travel choice and the possibility to connect onwards via our U.S. hubs to other destinations across the Americas.”
“As we are getting ready for a new exciting summer season, the fact that United Airlines is extending its daily nonstop seasonal services from Athens to metropolitan New York and the U.S. Capital, Washington, is truly exciting news!” said Ioanna Papadopoulou, AIA, Director, Communications & Marketing. “Even from the start of 2024, the U.S. market demonstrates an impressive growth of almost 30 per cent versus last year and it continuously tops the list of our most important and popular markets, with the vibrant Greek-American community playing a key role in this. We wish our airline partner a very successful season and pledge our unwavering commitment to stay fully… “UNITED” in supporting the airline’s growth plans to/from Athens!”
The seasonal service extensions from Athens to New York/Newark and Washington D.C., as well as the new upcoming route from Athens to Chicago O’Hare underline United’s leadership among U.S. airlines as the largest carrier across the Atlantic, flying nonstop from 38 transatlantic destinations for summer 2024, the most in its history and more destinations than all other U.S. carriers combined. United continues to be the only airline to directly connect the U.S. with Dubrovnik, Malaga, Mallorca and Tenerife. The airline’s 2024 summer schedule also includes new services from Faro to New York/Newark, Barcelona to San Francisco, the resumption of its seasonal Reykjavik-New York/Newark service, as well as additional flights from Rome and Brussels. United will also increase its summer seasonal Malaga-New York/Newark flight to daily service and will start the service earlier on 3 May 2024. Additionally, the airline will be resuming earlier some of its other most popular seasonal routes from Nice, Lisbon, Barcelona, Rome, Milan and Naples to give customers more time and flexibility to explore destinations across the U.S.
