InnHealth Conference Series: Emergency Management in Hotels

InnHealth Announcement

InnHealth Conference Series

Emergency Management in Hotels” is the theme of a new, innovative series of conferences titled InnHealth, being organized for the first time in Greece. They are aimed at the Greek hotel industry and focus on risk management.

The first event will take place on February 24, 2024, at the OTE ACADEMY conference center in Marousi, Attica. It is intended for hotel directors and executives.

Participation in the conference is FREE. HOMED, as the main sponsor, covers all expenses of the event.

The conference also has a humanitarian and charitable purpose: Each registrant is encouraged to donate a symbolic amount of 100 euros to the ELEPAP foundation to support rehabilitation of Brave Children with Disabilities.

The event is organized by the IRITEL (International Research Institute for Telemedicine), in collaboration with the medical company HOMED.

The conference aims to fill a significant gap in the training and preparedness of hotel staff for the prevention and proper management of emergency incidents, most of which are related to human health.

Our health can present minor or major problems at any time, and there is no guarantee that such a problem won’t occur during our vacations or a business trip. Examples include:

  • Injuries
  • Foodborne risks
  • Infections and unforeseen exacerbations of chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes, coronary disease, and lung diseases.
  • Risks from insects, mites, and reptiles

When a traveler faces such a problem, they are always far from home, their treating doctors, and the healthcare system they are accustomed to. It is our duty to substitute all these with the best possible way, to reduce their anxiety and ensure the best care that can be given.

The mobilization must be immediate, precise, and with flawless coordination of all contributors (hotel, call centers, visiting doctors, ambulances, pharmacies, hospitals) to avoid wasting precious time on pointless actions and to prevent missing a serious diagnosis that could risk the health or life of the patient.

However, prevention is always better than any treatment. Early detection of food intolerance, adherence to hygiene and safety protocols in all areas, proper ventilation settings, appropriate food maintenance, and identification of traps that could cause accidents are some of the topics that will be discussed at the conference.

Apart from primary prevention, there is also secondary prevention. For example, after an incident of bed bug bites, there are ways to limit the spread of the insects. Another example is tracing the guilty food after food poisoning to prevent further cases.

The health and safety of people who honor us by choosing our country for their vacations is our utmost obligation.
