The presence of foreign tourists in the country is significantly increasing, as reflected in the data on the use of the Uber app in Greece. Foreign visitors give a vote of confidence to the country and are choosing our country and related islands for their vacation as proven by the use of the Uber app for their commute. It is indicative that between April and June the number of tourists who opened the app on their mobile phone increased by 40%. Foreign visitors who secured a ride through the Uber app increased by 43% as compared to April – June 2022. Uber trips to and from the airport increased by 43% compared to the same period last year, while international trips within the city of Athens were boosted by 30%. The top three nationalities who used the app between April and June 2023 are visitors from the US, UK, and France. In particular, travellers from the US who booked a ride through the app increased by 50% compared to the same period in 2022, while visitors from the UK and France recorded a 13% increase (each) in trips through the Uber app.

As of today Uber provides through its app the Uber Taxi service in Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Mykonos and Corfu. Passengers can easily enter their destination and pick a taxi, ensuring the transportation they want in a smooth and convenient way. They can check the estimated time of arrival of the taxi, the registration number, the model of the vehicle and all the necessary information for the driver. Drivers, on the other hand, can access the app and start accepting trip requests from any of the 124 million active Uber users across the globe visiting Greece with just a tap of a button.
