ITB Career Center: Springboard for a tourism industry career

From 7 to 9 March the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show is bringing job seekers and tourism industry HR managers together at the ITB Career Center – Job seekers can take advantage of free individual career advice and have their application forms checked – Experts will share knowledge and offer tips for planning careers

Be they students, young professionals, trainees, qualified tourism professionals or anyone switching careers – from 7 to 9 March 2023 at the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show at the ITB Career Center in Hall 4.1, job seekers can find out about new opportunities for future careers. In addition to obtaining comprehensive professional advice on career opportunities and advanced training, job seekers can directly contact HR managers and meet potential employers at the event.

At the ITB Career Center around 20 universities, colleges, professional academies and service providers from Germany and other countries will be presenting their courses and advanced training for the tourism industry. Numerous potential employers will be located in the recruiting area of the Federal Employment Agency, the exclusive partner of the ITB Career Center, in Hall 4.1. They include the International Placement Service (ZAV), European Employment Services (EURES), Fair Job Hotels, Seachefs, Reisevor9, easyboarding, MSC Cruises and DSR Hotel Holding. Both the French company ACCOR, an international player, and StepStone with its recruiting platform Hotelcareer will be represented with their own stands in Hall 4.1.

On the stand of the Federal Employment Agency young professionals can get important tips on how to apply for jobs and have their application forms checked free of charge. Visitors who search the ITB Job Wall can find the job of their dreams from more than 100 employment vacancies.

Numerous keynote speeches, panel discussions and introductory speeches on planning careers

On the new ITB Lighthouse Stage in Hall 4.1, young professionals in the global travel industry can get inspiration for planning their careers. At various sessions, exhibitors will present topics on sustainable development at regional level, examples of best recruiting practices and university research projects.

On Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m., business etiquette sessions organised by the Federal Employment Agency will provide tips on how to successfully launch a career. At the ITB Master Slam on Tuesday, 7 March at 1 p.m., various universities will present their Master’s degree courses.

On 8 March in Hall 7.1b, the Future Work track of the ITB Berlin Convention will also focus on the skills and labour shortage. At informative sessions, experts will have advice on how to confront this situation, and visitors can find out more about how to achieve future success in the tourism industry.

On Wednesday, 8 March, at 3 p.m. on the Blue Stage in Hall 7.1b, under the heading ’Wanted: staff urgently required’, Prof. Dr. Heinz-Dieter Quack, professor of Destination Management at Ostfalia HaW, Dirk Binding, director, Digital Economy, Infrastructure, Regional Development, at the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), and Otto Lindner, chairman, German Hotel Association (IHA), will discuss the challenges posed by the skills shortage.

 

Taking three best practices as an example, Stefanie Berk, CMO DB Fernverkehr, Christian Rex, general manager, Paulinen Hof Seminarhotel, and Michael Schumacher, Brand Partnership Lead Travel TikTok, will show how new narratives can help overcome the skills shortage. The session will take place on Wednesday, 8 March at 4 p.m. on the Blue Stage in Hall 7.1b.
