Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) awarded three certifications against ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2011 by LRQA.
At a ceremony held during international shipping exhibition Posidonia, Capt. Weng Lin, PPA Deputy CEO, was presented with certifications against of ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management, and ISO 50001:2018 for Energy Management, by Mr. Stuart Kelly, LRQA Global Sales Director, Business Assurance. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to best practice for quality, environmental and energy management.
PPA’s certification commenced against ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 with LR in 2013. The full spectrum of certifications is covering the Provision of Port Cruise, Ferry, RoRo & Container Terminal Services, management of Logistics Centre, provision of Dry Docking Services for the Repair of Vessels and sub-concessions of berthing posts and land space for the repair of vessels, as well as Port Construction & Maintenance Projects, therefore demonstrating PPA’s strong commitment towards continual improvement and operational excellence across its very broad scope of activity.
PPA’s Deputy CEO Captain Weng Lin stated: “Feeling proud to receive our certificates by LRQA for the excellence of our actions towards continuous improvement of port services and decarbonization. Piraeus Port Authority has set up a Decarbonization Roadmap until 2030 aligned with the goals of EU Green Deal and the Fit-for-55 package. Reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared with 1990 levels is an ambitious goal for EU and we must all join forces to achieve it. We are committed to greening our own operations within their own remit and seeking ways to reduce our own emissions, while supporting vessels to their efforts towards decarbonization. Having partners, like LRQA, on our side gives us strength to achieve our highest goals.”
