Alfredo Aznar, Managing Director of Meliá Hotels International West and South Europe, visited the island of Rhodes in Greece. Mr. Aznar came to celebrate the addition of the Cosmopolitan Hotel, operated by Zeus Hotels to the Group’s portfolio, marking the beginning of a new era for Meliá Hotels International. The Group is gaining an increasingly significant presence in the Greek islands, a location recognised as being of the utmost importance for the strategic expansion of their activity in the international hospitality market.
During his visit to the hotel, Mr. Aznar handed over an honorary plaque as a symbol of the new collaboration between the two brands to Pantelis Vernados, COO of ZEUS HOTELS. In strict accordance with current preventative measures against COVID-19, the guest list was intimate. Executives and team members of the Zeus Hotels team were there to accept the gift and celebrate the occasion.
The Cosmopolitan Hotel was added to the Affiliated by Melia programme in May as a new group franchise. Located on the beautiful coast of Ixia, the impressive all-inclusive four-star resort boasts 377 rooms with sea views and high-end hotel facilities. A wide range of services caters to the needs of all guests from couples to families, including a variety of refined amenities like two restaurants, two bars, a spa and gym, outdoor pools, tennis courts, a kid’s club and a children’s pool.
Following a planned refurbishment of the facilities in line with the brand’s specifications and requirements, the Cosmopolitan Hotel is expected to operate under the Sol by Meliá umbrella in 2022.
The Affiliated by Meliá concept covers resorts mainly in the “bleisure” market, providing them access to the Group’s rich array of resources, while allowing them to maintain their unique character. Thanks to partnerships with international sales and distribution networks, the hotels can access all existing channels. They’re also granted the option to participate in the MeliáRewards programme, a rewards system with over 14 million members.
In a recent statement, Mr. Aznar remarked: “It’s a great pleasure to visit one of the most beautiful hotels in Rhodes, the newest addition to our portfolio. This new partnership is the next step in fulfilling Meliá Hotels International’s commitment to strategically expanding its presence, in even more popular destinations. The authentic Greek hospitality and industry know-how of our team is certain to result in a successful collaboration, serving to strengthen the brand both in Greece and throughout the Mediterranean.”
Lefteris Papakaliatis (CEO of Zeus Hotels) stated the following: “We are very pleased for this partnership and we’re confident that we will build a strong relationship with Melia to support the growth of the brand in Greece. Our aim is to improve the quality standards in the Greek hospitality sector and bring more enjoyable and new experiences for our guests.”
