WTTC and UNEP will host the webinar ‘Rethinking Single Use Plastic Products in Travel & Tourism’, which will discuss some of the main sector players’ achievements and challenges.
COVID-19 led to a proliferation of single-use plastic products (SUPPs), adding urgency to the global challenge of single-use plastic pollution, which has significant environmental impacts and negatively affects the attractiveness of destinations.
However, the pandemic has also provided a unique opportunity to build back a greener and more sustainable future.
While the Travel & Tourism sector is increasingly implementing SUPP elimination strategies towards driving more circular approaches, individual efforts are not enough.
Together, we will explore how can the sector collaborate across the value chain to ensure a transition towards reduce and reuse models in line with circularity principles as well as current and future waste infrastructures.
The event will take place on 24 June, between 2pm – 3pm BST
