G. Patoulis: Thematic health and wellness tourism is among our top priorities

The Region of Attica in cooperation with the Embassy of Greece in the United Arab Emirates organised a press & fam trip entitled “LUXURY TOURISM IN ATTICA”, hosting a group of foreign journalists and a TV crew from Dubai.
 
The trip was initiated in the context of Attica’s tourism promotional actions and aimed at highlighting the uniqueness of the region’s tourism product. Particular emphasis was given to ancient and modern culture, luxury tourism infrastructure and services, lifestyle, contemporary Greek fashion and gastronomy.
From 28 October until 1 November 2019 the journalists and TV crew of Fashion TV MENA (Middle East and North Africa) visited Attica and witnessed the reasons that make the region an ideal short break destination for travellers who seek exclusive travel experiences.
 
During their stay in Attica, the group of Fashion TV MENA shot footage that will be used in short videos for the show “F Destination – Greece”. These videos will promote Attica’s all-year tourism products that are attractive for United Arab Emirates audience, such as alternative and conference tourism, health and wellness, modern Greek fashion and gastronomy.

The five-day stay of the foreign journalists in Attica featured, amongst others, visits at the Acropolis Museum, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, Vouliagmeni Lake, hotels and fine dining restaurants in the centre of Athens, in Zea Marina and in Vouliagmeni. They also visited the ateliers of famous Greek fashion designers, while at the Monastiraki open-air market and along Ermou paved street they recorded the vibes of Athens city centre and the unlimited possibilities for shopping in Attica. 

Statement by the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis
On the occasion of this action, the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis stated:
Thematic health and wellness tourism is at the top of our priorities. These are sectors which demand close cooperation between local government, central government and private sector. We aim at a national endeavour for the development of Greek Tourism, in order to attract health and wellness travellers who will repeat their visits to Attica and the whole country, thus establishing Greece as a popular destination.
 
The Executive Regional Councilor for Tourism Promotion, Mr. Theodore Koutsogianopoulos, welcomed the foreign visitors on behalf of the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis. Following his greeting, the executives of the Region of Attica Directorate of Tourism presented to the journalists from Dubai the features of mature tourism products of the whole region, elaborating on the limitless possibilities offered for short breaks all around the year.

In organising the “Luxury Tourism in Attica” press trip, the contribution of Mr. Christos Stampoulopoulos, Head of Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and Ms Maria Kostopoulou, First Secretary for Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in the UAE, was of key importance.
 
Worth noting is that during their stay in Attica, the journalists and TV crew from Dubai attended part of the Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Real Estate Forum that was held from 29 until 31 October 2019 in Athens, in cooperation with Enterprise Greece organisation, and had the chance to discuss with the organisers of the event.
