Excitement and keen interest, for the various possibilities and opportunities offered in Attica for short and long holidays throughout the year, was expressed by the visitors of the Attica’s Region booth at the leading global travel exhibition, «World Travel Market» held from the 6th to the 8th of November 2017, in London, U.K. `
The Region of Attica participated as a co-exhibitor at the Greek National Tourist Organization’s booth (EU1250), while its delegation was accompanied by representatives of the City of Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and the Municipality of Poros.
The Tourism Directorate’s executives held meetings with travel agents, journalists and bloggers, major agencies, news agencies and renowned online media from many countries, such as Australia, Denmark, United States of America, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Norway, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Philippines, etc.
Printed and electronic material for the tourist promotion of the Attica Region and of the ACVB, regarding the possibility of hosting conferences and mega events, as well as the relative material of the Municipalities of Kythera, Poros, Saronikos, Hydra, and the Hellenic Athletics Federation’s brochure on the Authentic Marathon of Athens, were distributed to the visitors of the booth.
During the exhibition, a targeted presentation of Attica’s gastronomy, for selected tourism professionals and journalists was organized, in cooperation with the GNTO’s UK and Ireland Office. According to the GNTO data, Greek tourism is receiving positive signals, as it is expected to have an upward trend in 2018.
In particular, Athens is showing a 10% increase in arrivals compared to last year, coming second, at a European level, only to the city of Heraklion. The dynamic increase in arrivals, visits and in the average duration of stay in Attica is an objective of all the tourism related authorities, and of course this aim is supported by the Region of Attica’s Directorate of Tourism, as tourism spreads its economic benefits to the whole society.
The messages for tourism in Attica are particularly positive. Professionals are keen to propose to their customers the many features of Attica as an attractive, multi-day, tourist destination, which combines excellent hospitality for conferences and events in the metropolitan center, with leisure vacations to nearby destinations of natural beauty, for any age and travel interest.
The Region of Attica’s Directorate of Tourism keeps working on the implementation of the “Strategic Plan for the Tourism Promotion of Attica Region 2016-2020”, said the responsible, preparing, alongside with the participation in exhibitions, the strengthening of Attica’s presence in the international tourism market, through workshops and road shows, among its other projects for 2018.
