gulfair_16_6_2014Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, on Monday June 16, 2014, celebrated the resumption of operations to Athens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Bahrain International Airport and attended by members of Gulf Air’s executive management team, Civil Aviation Authority, Bahrain Airport Services, Police Directorate of Bahrain International Airport, Public Administration of Ports Security, Department of Immigration and Passports, Airport’s National Security Department officials, and passengers travelling on the airline’s inaugural flight.

Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam commented at the event: “We are delighted to further strengthen our European operations with today’s return to Athens, particularly in light of recent positive signs of Greece’s economic recovery. We expect our newest destination to appeal to Bahrain and GCC residents not only as a prime holiday destination but as a key business link between Greece and the region. The addition of Athens to Gulf Air’s network is in line with our strategy of strengthening the airline’s network with key global destinations.”
