Lufthansa will launch four new routes for the summer 2014

Lufthansa is set to further expand its offer to America during summer 2014 and also to increase its dense European network by adding daily flights to Valencia.

Starting on 3 April 2014, Lufthansa will operate flights from Munich to Mexico City. Lufthansa will serve Mexico City five times a week from Munich, in addition to the daily flight from Frankfurt. The new route will be operated under flight number LH 520 with an Airbus A340- 600 with 306 seats. Mexico City, with a population of over 23 million, is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. It is the political, economic, social and cultural heart of the country as well as its largest transportation hub. Its famous museums and monuments also make it an interesting destination for leisure travellers. The city offers visitors a wide range of cultural activities, and has an internationally renowned theatre scene.

Also, Lufthansa will launch on 5 June 2014its new service from Munich to Toronto. Toronto is Canada’s largest commercial and financial centre. More than 80,000 companies have their headquarters in the city. The region occupies a leading position in the field of communications and IT technology. Initially, Lufthansa will only operate flights to Toronto in the summer under flight number LH 494. As with the flight from Frankfurt, the new daily service to Toronto will enable convenient connections to the hub of Lufthansa’s Star Alliance partner, Air Canada. The Airbus A330-300 that will serve this route will be fitted out with the new First and Business Class seats, providing Lufthansa passengers with the highest levels of in-flight comfort.

Between the 16 May and 12 October 2014 the airline will launch a seasonal summer service from Frankfurt to the Canadian City of Montreal. The non-stop flights will operate five times a week on Tuesday through Friday as well as on Sunday. The new flight will be offered between 16 May and 12 October using Airbus A340-300 and A330-300 aircraft in an Economy and Business Class configuration. Lufthansa already operates daily non-stop flights between Munich and Montreal. Also partner airline Swiss offers daily services from its hub in Zurich to the ‘Mont Royal’ city. Flight LH 478 is scheduled to depart from Frankfurt in the early afternoon and reach Montreal at 3.35 p.m. local time. This will enable passengers travelling through Montreal to connect to the network of Lufthansa’s partner Air Canada. The return flight, LH 479 is set to depart Canada at 5.10 p.m. and arrive in Germany the next morning at 6.25.

Effective in the summer timetable commencing on 30 March, Lufthansa will also increase its dense European network by adding daily flights to Valencia. Up to 168 passengers can fly in Economy and Business Class on board the Airbus A320. LH 1160 is scheduled to leave Frankfurt at 9.15 a.m. and reach the Spanish harbour city at 11.40 a.m. The return flight, LH 1161 is set to depart at 12.30 p.m. and arrive at 3.p.m. in Germany.

With these additions for the summer season, the airline will increase its direct services to 19 destinations in North America, and seven cities across Spain.
