Norwegian Cruise Line named “Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Line”

Norwegian Cruise Line has been named “Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Line” by the World Travel Awards.

The 20th annual awards, the Caribbean Gala Ceremony of which was held on September 14 in Antigua, bestow the world’s top travel companies with honours for outstanding products and services and are voted on by travel professionals and consumers from around the globe. Norwegian, which has been voted Europe’s Leading Cruise Line for six consecutive years as well as the World’s Leading Large Ship Cruise Line, has eight spectacular Freestyle Cruising vessels sailing the Caribbean this winter from Boston, New York, Miami, Tampa and New Orleans, and from February 2014 will have a ship sailing to the Caribbean year-round from Miami when the brand new Norwegian Getaway joins the fleet.

“It is such an honour to receive this award from travel partners and consumers worldwide,” said Kevin Sheehan, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. “As we prepare to introduce Norwegian Getaway to the Caribbean in February, this prestigious designation makes us very proud and I know that our Caribbean experience will be enhanced even more by this incredible new ship.”

Setting sail from Miami year-round to the Eastern Caribbean, Norwegian Getaway will embody the essence of the Magic City, and feature ground-breaking entertainment experiences like the GRAMMY® Experience at sea, with live performances by past GRAMMY winners and nominees; The Illusionarium, an all-new dining and entertainment experience that will envelop guests in the fascinating world of magic; Latin-inspired dance productions by Broadway sensation, Burn the Floor; performances of the seven-time Tony Award nominated musical Legally Blonde; hilarious comedy headliners produced by Levity Entertainment Group; and the sing along fun of the duelling pianos of Howl at the Moon.

Foodies setting sail from Miami on Norwegian Getaway can feast in their choice of 27 incredible dining options, including Celebrity Chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian’s three dining concepts: Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian; Ocean Blue on the Waterfront and The Raw Bar.

Norwegian’s largest ship to date, Norwegian Epic, sails to the sunny Eastern Caribbean destinations on 7-night cruises from Miami starting November 2, 2013. Voted “Best Ship for Sea Days” by Cruise Critic and “Best Overall Cruise Ship” by the readers of Travel Weekly two years in a row, Norwegian Epic will visit tropical destinations including; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and Nassau, Bahamas.

Other ships sailing the Caribbean from Miami include Norwegian Pearl, offering 7-night cruises to the Western Caribbean and Norwegian Sun, sailing 10- or 11-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean.

Guests wanting to start from Boston, Tampa, New York City and New Orleans can also cruise to the Caribbean on Norwegian. Norwegian Dawn sets sail from Boston for a 14-night “Caribbean Escape” to Tampa from where she starts her 7-night cruises to the Western Caribbean on November 17, 2013. Norwegian Gem offers spectacular 9-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from New York City, starting October 19, 2013, while Norwegian Breakaway, the ship that brings the best of New York City to Sea, offers guests the chance to cruise from the Big Apple to the Bahamas & Florida starting October 13, 2013.
