A great award night to honour the best companies in the air transport industry by ATN (Air Transport News) was held in Megaron Mousikis in Athens, on Sunday the 4th of March 2012.

Lufthansa was awarded the Bronze Prize in the “Airline of the Year” category, the only European airline company to succeed in this category. Lufthansa was recognised by the jury of experts as a global multi-awarded long-haul airline characterised by an environment of trade openness, cultural diversity, business growth and sustainable profitability. For Lufthansa German Airlines the year 2011 has been a successful year with having carried more than 106 million travelers to 198 worldwide destinations in 82 countries, which equals an increase of 7,5% to the year 2010.
Lufthansa stands for state-of-the-art technology and innovation. Apart from high standard aircrafts it has introduced various innovations, such as the development of the new generation of check-in terminals, the introduction of iPad apps and other services. In July 2011 the airline has opened their largest First Senator lounge in Frankfurt with more than 1.800 m, spa facilities and various luxurious services.
Apart from that, Lufthansa also stands for a company showing social responsibility in all aspects. For 5 months the airline has tested biosynthetic fuel successfully and will continue flying with this environmental friendly fuel.
