KLM and Olympic Air sign a Code Share agreement

KLM and Olympic Air sign a Code Share agreementKLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Olympic Air announced today that they have signed a code share agreement effective September 1st, 2011. This agreement entitles the airlines to market flights between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos for connecting traffic under each others flight numbers.

Both airlines already operate flights on this route. The new code share agreement enables Olympic Air to increase the number of daily flight offerings to its customers from nine to sixteen per week and KLM will also raise the offering to its customers from two to three daily flights.
On September 12th, this code share agreement has been further enhanced, offering 8 destinations to KLM passengers in the Greek domestic market & 8 European destinations to Olympic Air passengers. KLM passengers will be able book a KLM flight between Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” and Alexandroupoli, Santorini, Chania, Heraklion, Ioannina, Kos, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, for connecting services operated by Olympic Air. Olympic Air passengers will be able to connect at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for flights to Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Goteborg, Hamburg, Manchester, Oslo & Stockholm under an Olympic Air flight number.
Mr. John Karakadas, Olympic Air’s Executive Chairman and Mr. Pieter Elbers, Chief Operating Officer for KLM, have announced this agreement for these code share flights between the two Airlines at a press conference, held in Athens on September 16th.
Mr. Karakadas commented: “We are pleased to proceed with this important agreement which brings harmonious cooperation between the networks of our two companies. With this agreement, Olympic Air offers Greek passengers the opportunity to travel to the 131 destinations that KLM offers through Amsterdam. The corner stone of this cooperation is the 8 code share destinations each company offers”. Mr Pieter Elbers commented: “We are pleased to sign a code share agreement with Olympic Air. This agreement will extend the benefits available to our customers and strengthens our presence in Greece as well as brings more Northern European traffic to Greece”.
