Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, on Thursday May 19th, announces a new distribution agreement with Switzerland-based Helvetic Airways which will see the airline participate on all Travelport GDS platforms.
Founded in 2003, the Zurich-based airline focuses on providing non-stop services from Bern and Zurich airports to a number of destinations throughout Europe. Helvetic Airways schedules will now be made available to more than 60,000 travel agents globally on the Galileo and Worldspan platforms.
Travelport subscribers in Switzerland will be able to issue tickets on Helvetic Airways through IATA’s Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) while Hahn Air can be used for all e-ticketing needs in other BSP countries around the world. Separately, Hahn Air recently implemented Travelport’s Electronic Transitional Automated Ticketing (ETAT™) solution which enables flight ticketing in countries without BSPs, therefore Helvetic Airways will also benefit from another of Travelport’s innovative systems via Hahn Air.
Tobias Pogorevc, chief financial officer, at Helvetic Airways commented: “We’re excited to be working with Travelport and we’re impressed not only by the excellent support from the local team, but also with the potential for our business to provide flight schedules to agents worldwide.”
Robin Ranken, head of supplier, Europe at Travelport added: “We are pleased to be able to include Helvetic Airways as part of Travelport’s vast distribution chain. By adding more locally relevant air content we are able to give our global travel agents more choice. We will work closely with Helvetic Airways to ensure they have the technology and support they need to succeed.”
