Tattoo health risks

Tattoo health risksA lot of questions have been raised about the issue of getting a tattoo. Mainly the issues are related to health risks, which can be both mental and physical.

Now-a-days having a tattoo in the western world,  is a matter of style , fashion and personal expression.
Many other cultures use tattoo as part of their religious ceremonies and status.

There are many types of tattoos,  including henna, permanent, temporary, traumatic, cosmetic and several other types.

We must understand that not all forms are dangerous and cause health risks.

Our objective here is to talk about the permanent tattoo health risks.

The majority of the risks come from contaminated equipment and the lack of good practice used in parlors that are not certified.

Among the most common effects of contaminated equipment are skin infections , blood poisoning and possible allergic reactions. These after effects not only pose a threat to the skin but also may be the result of a traumatic experience which will affect the person psychologically as well.

Other significant but rare  tattoo health risks could be related to cancer, because certain dyes could contain silver nitrate and similar chemical compounds.

Besides getting a tattoo and the health risks involved, there is also the process of removing the tattoo which in itself is more painful than actually getting a tattoo and significantly more expensive. Someone might decide to get the tattoo removed because of the  social stigma associated with it. This might not leave him with a physical mark but definitely a mental one.

Although there is not a lot of  tattoo health risks we could still avoid them by using non toxic or temporary dyes and methods.
