Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival returns dynamically for its 11th edition, to be held from 23 to 30 August 2026 on the island of Kastellorizo, Greece.
Following the success of its 10th anniversary edition, which received a record-breaking 907 film submissions from around the world, the Festival officially opens its Call for Entries to Greek and international documentary filmmakers. Film submissions will be accepted from 2 January to 30 April 2026.
Competition Programme
For its 11th edition, the Festival will present 42 films in its Competition Programme, consisting of the following sections:
- Main Competition Section
Documentary films of medium length (31–60 minutes) and feature length (61 minutes and over). - μicro Competition Section
Short documentary films (up to 30 minutes), open exclusively to filmmakers who have directed up to three (3) films to date.
Non-Greek productions or co-productions must hold at least their Greek premiere at the Festival in order to be considered eligible.
Themes that Inspire and Provoke Reflection
Beyond Borders focuses on documentary films that explore historical events and figures, contemporary socio-political issues, the promotion of human rights, as well as any cross-border themes that resonate with the concerns and trends of contemporary cinematic expression.
Films submitted for consideration in the Competition Sections must have been completed within the years 2025–2026.
