SKY express strengthens its international presence with a new direct Athens–Berlin route

Η SKY express ενισχύει τη διεθνή παρουσία της με νέα απευθείας πτήση Αθήνα–Βερολίνο

As part of the continuous expansion of its international network, the Greek air carrier SKY express inaugurated on October 16 its new direct connection Athens–Berlin, operating four weekly flights (Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday). Following Munich, Frankfurt, and Düsseldorf, and with Hamburg soon to be added, the German capital becomes another strategic European destination, further strengthening the company’s presence in the German market.

The new direct route of SKY express is operated with the state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo aircraft. Recently, the company welcomed one more Airbus, bringing its total fleet to 29 aircraft, and maintaining the youngest fleet in Greece. With an average age of just 3.9 years, the Airbus neo aircraft feature a reduced environmental and noise footprint, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable development.

With this new connection, SKY express now serves 27 international destinations, confirming its steady focus on strategic markets that enhance the country’s extroversion and its appeal as a year-round travel destination.

By the end of the year, the company’s flight schedule will be further expanded with new direct routes from Athens to Lisbon, Madrid, Hamburg, Lyon, and Tel Aviv, as well as new routes Thessaloniki–Düsseldorf and Heraklion–Tirana. At the same time, SKY express remains the only Greek airline operating the largest domestic network with 33 destinations across Greece, ensuring stable connectivity throughout the country.

On the inaugural flight, Mr. Gerasimos Skaltsas, Chief Commercial Officer of SKY express, stated: “We would like to thank Berlin Airport for the warm welcome. This new connection significantly enhances connectivity between Greece and Germany and offers passengers from Berlin access to the largest network of destinations in Greece, available throughout the year. With consistency, we continue to provide reliable, high-quality, and affordable travel options, strengthening the connectivity between the two countries and contributing to the growth and extroversion of Greece.”

“We are delighted to welcome SKY express to BER and to offer our passengers a new, strong service to Athens. This new route provides additional options for business and leisure travelers alike. In particular, the extensive range of connecting flights within Greece offer attractive travel opportunities all year round,” says Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.
