American Airlines TO LAUNCH SERVICE TO ATHENS FROM DALLAS-FORT WORTH

  • American adds more flights to Europe with service between Athens (ATH) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) launching May 21, 2026.
  • DFW will be American’s fifth nonstop destination from Athens, providing nonstop flights to more U.S. cities from Greece than any other airline.

American Airlines is continuing its expansion into Greece, launching its fifth daily flight to Athens (ATH) with a new service from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).

As travel from Europe to North America continues to grow throughout the summer, the introduction of American’s new route from DFW to ATH marks the airline’s fifth hub with nonstop service to Greece’s capital, providing nonstop flights to more U.S. cities from Greece than any other airline.

This year, American successfully launched new service connecting ATH with Charlotte (CLT). This service will return next year, as will flights to Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK) and Philadelphia (PHL).

The customer demand for flights to and from cities rich in culture continues to grow. We’re increasingly seeing customers flock to cities they can step back in time in, exploring history and culture beyond anything experienced before,” said José A. Freig, Vice President – International and Inflight Dining Operations. “With this route, our customers in Athens will also have access to our largest U.S. hubs in Dallas Fort Worth, from where they can explore more than 225 destinations in the U.S and beyond.”

“The launch of the Athens–Dallas/Fort Worth route, connecting. as of next summer, the Greek capital with American Airlines’ largest hub in the United States, marks yet another significant development in enhancing our transatlantic connectivity” said Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications & Marketing at Athens International Airport.

“Alongside American Airlines’ highly successful summer routes from Athens to Chicago, New York/JFK, Philadelphia, and most recently Charlotte, this new service to Dallas – a strategic hub in the heart of Texas with a strong business, cultural, and sports identity – offers travellers even more exciting options through American’s top-tier product.

We sincerely thank American Airlines for the “vote of trust” in the Athens market, we extend our warmest wishes for safe and full flights and reaffirm our strong commitment to continue working closely together for the airline’s remarkable expansion and success in Athens.”

As the airline continues to grow its trans-Atlantic service, American will also debut new service to Prague, Czech Republic (PRG) and add new routes to popular destinations including Budapest (BUD); Milan (MXP) and Zurich (ZRH). In summer 2026, American will serve 11 European destinations nonstop from DFW – the most ever for the airline.

Tickets will be available for purchase on these new summer 2026 routes starting August 11 at aa.com or through American’s mobile app.
