Germanwings with new destinations in the Greek market

Ten years after the first flight from Cologne to Athens in June 2003 the budget airline Germanwings has ambitious plans to win new customers in Greece. The airline will introduce in a few weeks the highest value airline product in this segment in Europe.

On 1 July 2013 Passengers will be able to create their own package and adapt it in detail to their individual needs. While offering Economy Class across the board, the “new Germanwings” will boast new fares with different service packages. Very attractive for greek customers will be the “Smart” fare product that includes certain add-on services with the customer being able to pick others as needed.

Germanwings announced in Thessaloniki that the company is satisfied with its results 2012 in the Greek Market. Last year the airline has transported 325.000 passengers from Germany to Greece and back. For 2013 Germanwings is planning a growth in the Greek market with three summer destinations from the new Hub Hamburg to Heraklion, Kos and Corfu. Furthermore the airline started the first direct flight in May from Hannover to Thessaloniki.

The company, with its headquarter in Cologne, focuses on offering routes to the main European business cities, Northern Africa and Israel. Germanwings has three main target groups: Business Travelers, Visiting Friends & Family & Leisure. At present business travellers reach 42% of Germanwings passengers.
