In 2013 Indonesia will be the official partner country of ITB Berlin. Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, Director General of Tourism Marketing of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia and Dr. Martin Buck, Vice President of the Competence Center Travel & Logistics, signed a preliminary agreement on behalf of the world’s leading travel trade show and the future partner country of ITB Berlin.
“In recent years Indonesia has experienced huge economic growth. As one of the heavyweights in Southeast Asia Indonesia also offers great potential for Germany, its foremost trading partner in the European Union“, said Dr. Sapta Nirwandar. “Our participation in ITB Berlin 2013 will give a long-term boost to our popularity on the German and international market, and with our wide range of tourism products we will be sending out a positive signal to both trade visitors and the general public.
Indonesia is the biggest archipelago country in the world. It is rich with long history, cultures and heritage. Indonesia will warmly welcome all its guests and serve them with all the luxury tourism they ever wish for. In this country, guests will easily find any kind of luxurious services during their journey, from prestigious hotel, golf, spa, yacht to wedding and honeymoon packages. Journey and holiday to Indonesia will definitely be wonderful ones.”
Dr. Martin Buck: “This year Indonesia was represented at ITB Berlin for the 42nd time. We are delighted that the largest island nation in the world is expanding its presence at the show, and that in its role as official partner country it will be the focus of the international travel industry. Travellers representing the general public as well as MICE executives are fascinated by the diversity that Indonesia has to offer. Its innumerable islands and its centuries-old wealth of cultural and natural attractions are a magnet for travellers around the world. With so many animal and plant species, fascinating geological formations and outstanding opportunities for underwater diving, as a tourism destination Indonesia has stepped out of the shadow of Thailand and Malaysia. ITB Berlin is the ideal platform to present this country to the international media and to visitors, as well as to underline its importance as one of the leading and safest holiday destinations in Southeast Asia.“
At ITB Berlin 2011 Indonesia was represented with a two-tier stand covering 400 square metres and provided trade visitors and the general public with information on nature and its culture, the two mainstays of the Indonesian tourism industry. The campaign promoting “Wonderful Indonesia“ reflects the wide range of tourism products on offer, which in 2010 attracted seven million visitors to the country.
