White Sands International Film Festival Announces Schedule of Films

White Sands International Film FestivalThe White Sands International Film Festival has announced a line up of films to be presented at the festival to take place Aug. 25-28, 2011.

The film festival will feature several films and documentaries such as Everyday Sunshine, Run to the East, The Color Wheel, Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, Utopia, Strings and many more. VIP passes that allow access to all festival films are still available.

Films are scheduled to play on four different screens at the Cineport 10 at the Mesilla Valley Mall, as well as student shorts set to show at the Rio Grande Theatre on Sunday, Aug. 28. The films at the Cineport will run all day Friday and Saturday.

The festival will kick off Thursday, Aug. 25, with the film “Refuge” which was written and directed by Tony Award winner Mark Medoff. The film stars Linda Hamilton, Christopher McDonald and Chris Payne Gilbert.

The WSIFF will also be screening “The Doors” and “Tombstone,” starring Val Kilmer. Kilmer will be receiving the 2011 WSIFF of Las Cruces’ Lifetime Achievement Award on Friday, Aug. 26.

The White Sands International Film Festival, in its 6th year, brings together films from around the world to showcase the skills and talents of amateur and professional filmmakers alike. The festival is a 4 day event running August 25-28, 2011 with film screenings, workshops and VIP parties in the friendly city of Las Cruces, NM.
