In 2011, international tourism receipts exceeded US$ 1 trillion for the first time, up from US$ 928 billion in 2010. In real terms, receipts grew by 3.8%, following a 4.6% increase in international tourist arrivals. An additional US$ 196 billion in receipts from international passenger transport brought total exports generated by international tourism in 2011 to US$ 1.2 trillion. Read more →

Ο ΣΕΤΕ εξελέγη στην Προεδρία του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου των Affiliate Members του Παγκόσμιου Οργανισμού Τουρισμού (ΑΜ / UNWTO) κατά τη συγκρότησή του σε σώμα την Παρασκευή, 23 Μαρτίου 2012 στη Μαδρίτη. Το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο αποτελείται από 23 Μέλη που προέκυψαν από την έκτακτη Γενική Συνέλευση, που έγινε στις 9 Μαρτίου 2012, στο πλαίσιο της Διεθνούς Έκθεσης ITB στο Βερολίνο. Ο ΣΕΤΕ έλαβε 9 ψήφους, έναντι 8 της AMFORT (Asociacion Mundial para la Formacion Profesional Turistica, Μεξικό), 3 ψήφων της EXCELTUR (Allianza para la Excelencia Turistica, Ισπανία) και 3 ψήφων για το ICTE (Instituto para la Calidad Turistica Espanola, Ισπανία). International tourism to reach one billion in 2012
International tourist arrivals grew by over 4% in 2011 to 980 million, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer.
