ETOA will showcase the role of technology at the heart of travel during London Technology Week 2017

As part of London Technology Week 2017, ETOA – the European tourism association – will showcase the role of technology at the heart of travel during a conference and business networking workshop, taking place at the Barbican on Tuesday 13th June.

This year’s Showcase.travel Digital will focus on the ‘Digital City Visitor’. Industry experts will examine case studies on the latest applications that are being used to enhance the experience of the 21st century traveller and how tour operators, destinations, accommodation providers and visitor attractions can take advantage of the newest developments. The conference programme will be accompanied by a speed networking workshop comprising pre-arranged meetings between technology providers and potential new clients from across the tourism industry.

Tour Operators, destinations, attractions and hotels will be represented by brands such as: Lastminute.com, Madrid Destino, VisitBritain and Kuoni Global Travel Services. Technology providers already signed-up include Amadeus, Open Destinations, Melt Content and TrekkSoft.

Rachel Read, ETOA’s Head of Digital Trading said: ‘Inspiration and distribution are at the core of modern tourism – cutting-edge travel technology, be it complex supply systems or intuitive marketing applications, marks out those with the competitive edge. Bringing ETOA’s Showcase.travel Digital event to the London Technology Week will highlight how sophisticated the travel industry has become. It will also attract those seeking to advance their business by exploiting the latest advances in technology.

After last year’s event, Charlotte Poetzel, Deputy Director of S-E-T Studienreisen said: ‘It’s been a great chance to get to know so many suppliers in only one day without any effort of organizing meetings! On top of this, the keynote session was an inspiration for further work and the development of our company.’ Tom Hawes, Business Development Manager at Intuitive described Showcase.travel Digital as ‘A good environment to meet clients who are actively looking for new technology’.
