ITB Business Travel Days – business travel market faces change

ITB Berlin 2011Mobile technologies improve productivity on business travels – practical advanced training courses for travel managers from 9 to 13 March 2011 – papers, workshops and networking opportunities at the world’s leading travel trade show

The use of mobile technologies is revolutionizing the business travel market. Business travel experts are forecasting significantly higher productivity during every phase of business travel, reason enough for travel managers to find out about the latest developments in the business travel sector. From 9 to 13 March 2011 the ITB Business Travel Days will be offering suggestions and tips. A practically-oriented advanced training programme, free of charge for trade visitors at ITB Berlin, will focus on the latest topics, including on mobile technologies, cross-border travel management and rising supplementary charges for air fares. Other programme items include cooperating with the works council and the data protection officer, return on investment in events, and organizing corporate travel risk management.

Smart phones and business travel behaviour

At the ITB Business Travel Days Heilbronn University will present the findings of a survey which was jointly compiled with the business travel association ACTE. It dwells on the impact of mobile technologies and how they can improve business travellers’ productivity. A panel discussion on Thursday, 10 March 2011 will discuss the findings and provide an insight into the changes brought about by the use of mobile applications, and will also highlight how travel behaviour is about to change. Among the issues discussed will be how travel managers deal with direct sales models and new ordering and booking procedures, and which end device and platform concepts to use in an increasingly diverse mobile product market.

On Wednesday, 9 March 2011, at this year’s ITB MICE Day, which is organized in cooperation with Vereinigung Deutscher Veranstaltungsorganisatoren, the focus will be on striking the right balance between quality and costs when planning events. Papers and panel discussions will highlight developments in the conference sector, useful social media tools and innovative MICE guidelines.

Networking opportunities and a travel special

Participants will be able to meet one other and discuss the suggestions and news in detail at the ITB Business Travel Lounge. In Hall 8.1, ITB Berlin and HSMA, the professional association representing the hospitality industry, have set up a modern and open lounge area which has established itself as a place where travel industry members meet at this fair.
